How fights with my wife Chioma affect my career—Davido

Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about the significant role his wife, Chioma Adeleke, plays in his personal and professional life, admitting that things tend to go south in his business whenever they have a fight.
Speaking during an interview on The Breakfast Club, the award-winning singer gave rare insight into his marriage, his career journey, and the bond his wife shares with his children from other relationships.
According to Davido, Chioma carries a unique grace that has influenced not just his personal life but also his music career. He explained that their disagreements often come with unexpected setbacks in his business.
“My wife has always had things over me since we were young. Every time I fight her, something bad happens to my business,” he said. “She will say, ‘So you are fighting me abi? Your album is coming. Do you want to fight me?’ She has that grace over me.”
Reflecting on their long-term relationship, Davido revealed that he and Chioma had been together for 11 years before tying the knot. “We met in school. I was 18, and she was 17. We finished school together. She went from being my girlfriend to my wife,” he said.
The singer also opened up about Chioma’s relationship with his children from previous relationships, noting that they share a strong bond—particularly his daughter, Hailey.
“My kids love her, especially my daughter. There were times when I was scared to bring my kids around her, but there has been some growth,” he added.
Davido’s candid remarks have drawn admiration from fans, with many praising the couple’s enduring relationship and the singer’s openness about the influence of love and family on his success.
