Ibadan Police station accused of withholding recovered laptops, bribe

A shocking case of police extortion has come to light in Ibadan, Oyo State, involving officers from the Osuntokun police station.
Favour Etunwoke, a University of Ibadan student, reported a burglary incident on May 12, only to face demands for bribes from the police to recover his stolen laptops.
Etunwoke had previously encountered the suspects, two young men who threatened him in April. Despite reporting the threat to the police, they dismissed it as non-serious. When Etunwoke’s house was burgled in May, with three laptops stolen, he sought police help again.
However, the police demanded bribes to investigate and recover his items. Under pressure from the University’s Student Union Government, the police produced two recovered laptops but withheld the third, demanding compensation for their efforts.
According to source, the Oyo State Police PRO, Adewale Osifeso, has promised to investigate the allegations.
This ugly incident raises concerns about police corruption and extortion, leaving citizens questioning the integrity of law enforcement agencies.
Thediscovererng.com will give details as more information about the case unfolds.
