In Ogun, fake policeman arrested

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Bukola Olabode, for impersonating a police officer and defrauding Point of Sale (PoS) operators in the Ipokia Local Government Area.
Olabode, dressed in a police camouflage shirt and jeans, reportedly carried out fraudulent transactions using PoS machines. His activities came to light on Tuesday in the Ihunbo community when he attempted to dupe a PoS operator, Mary Midoyin, by making a fake transfer and fleeing with ₦60,000.
Residents, suspicious of his actions, pursued and apprehended him after a hot chase. He was handed over to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) before being transferred to the Idiroko Police Division for further investigation.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, the suspect confessed to defrauding PoS operators in the area. Items recovered from him include a Samsung phone, an Itel phone used for the fraud, a police constabulary warrant card, and additional clothing items.
The police confirmed Olabode is in custody and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of his fraudulent activities.
