Dr. Kayode Ajulo, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ondo State, has paid an emotional tribute to the late elder statesman and leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, describing him as a father figure whose unwavering belief in him shaped his destiny.

In a heartfelt statement titled “Tribute to a Titan: Farewell to His Eminence, E.K. Clark,” Ajulo expressed his profound sorrow over the passing of the revered Ijaw leader, acknowledging his immeasurable impact on his life and career.

“In the depths of my sorrow, I find myself utterly shattered, mourning not just a father, but a towering figure whose unwavering belief in me shaped the very course of my life. His Eminence, Ekwueme Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, was more than a mentor—he was my guardian, my guide, and my fiercest advocate,” Ajulo wrote.

Reflecting on Clark’s pivotal role in his legal journey, Ajulo recounted how the elder statesman entrusted him with high-profile legal briefs straight out of law school, stretching his abilities and catapulting him into the limelight. He praised Clark’s generosity, courage, and commitment to justice, describing him as a leader who forged paths where none existed.

“His presence was formidable, his words carried weight, and his vision for justice and equity was unparalleled. He was a giant among men, a beacon of leadership, and a voice that resonated across generations,” he added.

Ajulo acknowledged the deep void left by Clark’s passing but emphasized that his legacy of mentorship, love, and service to humanity would endure.

“As I bid farewell to this extraordinary soul, I do so with a heart heavy with grief but also with immense gratitude. The legacy he leaves behind is not just one of political and social impact, but of love, kindness, and selfless mentorship,” he concluded.

Chief Edwin Clark, a former minister and one of Nigeria’s most influential political figures, passed away at the age of 97. His contributions to national discourse, advocacy for the Niger Delta, and unwavering stance on justice made him a towering figure in Nigeria’s socio-political landscape.
