Liverpool put €130m offer for Leverkusen’s Wirtz

Liverpool have offered €130 million to Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz, upping their proposal to acquire the services of the German playmaker after it was revealed that he is keen on joining the Reds.

Liverpool are the only ones left in the race for Florian Wirtz after it was revealed last week that the Bayer Leverkusen playmaker had informed other interested clubs, Bayern Munich among others, about Anfield being his preferred destination.

But while things seem to be running smoothly from Wirtz’s end, an agreement over a transfer fee has yet to be reached between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen, who have put a €150 million price tag on the 22-year-old.

The Reds had initially submitted an offer worth €100 million – with add-ons included in the package – but have since upped their proposal to €130 million, shying 20 away from the Germans’ asking price, reports ‘The Athletic’.

Nevertheless, there is still optimism from Liverpool in reaching an agreement and landing Wirtz. Should the deal be closed on the figures mentioned above, he would become Liverpool’s most expensive signing ahead of Virgil van Dijk ( €84.65m) and Darwin Nunez (€85m).

Having scored 16 goals and provided 14 assists from 45 appearances across all competitions this season, Wirtz is deemed the ideal candidate to strengthen Arne Slot’s Premier League-winning squad for the upcoming campaign.
