Manchester City eye Barcelona’s Olmo

Pep Guardiola wants Barcelona playmaker Dani Olmo at Manchester City next season.
However, a possible deal could be difficult to seal given the player and the club’s positions.
Pep Guardiola has targeted Barcelona’s Dani Olmo as his dream candidate to strengthen his attacking department for the upcoming season, reports Matteo Moretto. That said, several factors could make the deal complicated to execute for Manchester City.
The first thing to consider would be the player’s willingness to leave the Catalan outfit. After a long-running battle to get his registration issues sorted, it seems unlikely that Olmo would be looking to leave Barcelona, especially given that he has been there for less than a year.
Barcelona’s position is also important to take into account. While it is clear that the 26-year-old attacking midfielder is deemed a valuable asset to the team, Barca could be swayed by a lucrative offer from the Premier League side. Olmo’s injury woes could also play a part in the club’s verdict.
The No. 20 has missed 15 matches across all competitions this season due to injury. Hansi Flick has also not left him on for the entire 90 minutes in any of his 36 appearances this term. Nevertheless, his numbers are positive, counting 11 goals and 5 assists in total.
A decision on whether to pursue the Olmo is set to be made in the coming weeks. Should it not materialise, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz remain on City’s list, though the latter seems to be closing in on a move to Bayern Munich.
