Nigeria will become self-sufficient in fuel production – Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has assured Nigerians that the country will achieve self-sufficiency in Premium Motor Spirit (petroleum) production within the next four weeks.
Akpabio praised President Bola Tinubu for the bold decision to remove the fuel subsidy, stating that the current hardships would soon end.
Akpabio made these remarks during the South-South APC conference in Calabar, Cross River State, noting that his inspections of several refineries led to this conclusion.
“I visited the Dangote refinery and discovered that by July 2024, Nigeria will be self-sufficient in PMS production. The refinery already produces enough diesel for export and the same goes for fertilizer and urea. We are moving towards an era where we produce and consume our own goods,” he said.
He also mentioned that negotiations on an acceptable minimum wage are nearing completion, promising that Nigerians will soon benefit from these discussions.
“Soon, we’ll finalize the minimum wage negotiations, and Nigerians will be pleased. The economy we inherited was in poor shape, which I term a ‘foamy economy.’ Despite this, the President remains committed, saying, ‘I campaigned for this job, and I must deliver,’” Akpabio stated.
