In an interview, actor and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo offered a scathing assessment of President Bola Tinubu’s two-year economic performance.

Speaking during a segment titled “State of the Nation” on a news program, Okonkwo argued that praising the current administration would be foolish given the economic hardships faced by Nigerians. “There’s no way anybody will be praising this government without appearing like a fool,” he stated, his tone reflecting deep frustration.

Okonkwo specifically targeted the removal of the fuel subsidy, a policy implemented early in Tinubu’s tenure, as a significant misstep. He criticized the decision for exacerbating the already dire economic situation, leading to increased hardship for citizens. “Praising Tinubu’s government makes one look like a fool as he slams fuel subsidy removal and rising hardship,” he added, emphasizing the disconnect between policy decisions and their impact on the populace.

His remarks come at a time when Nigeria continues to grapple with economic challenges, including inflation and unemployment, which have been compounded by the subsidy removal. Okonkwo’s assessment aligns with broader criticisms of the administration’s handling of the economy, reigniting discussions about the need for effective governance and accountability.

Online reactions to the video have been mixed, with some agreeing with Okonkwo’s perspective and others defending the government’s actions.
