Okobi joins Canadian club

Super Falcons midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Ekeoghene has joined Canadian Northern Football League side Ottawa Rapid FC ahead of their debut season in 2025, after recently giving birth to her first child.
The 31-year-old announced her move to the Canadian outfit on her X handle.
“New home, new journey. Let’s go samba,” Okobi wrote.
The experienced midfielder returns to club football after last featuring for Spanish side Badalona during the 2022/23 season, prior to her maternity break.
Before her stint in Spain, Okobi spent five successful seasons with Swedish club Eskilstuna United, having previously played for Washington Spirit in the United States and Vittsjo in Sweden.
The former Delta Queens star’s new club will compete in Canada’s top-flight league from 2025, with home matches to be played at the TD Place Stadium in Lansdowne Park, Ottawa, Ontario.
Okobi has enjoyed a decorated international career since joining the Nigerian national team setup in 2008, progressing from the U-17s to the senior team after the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
She played a crucial role in Nigeria’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumphs in 2010 and 2014, also featuring in the 2012 edition and representing the country at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
