Osun PDP alleges plot to assassinate Adeleke

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised alarm over an alleged plot to assassinate Governor Ademola Adeleke, accusing the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, of deploying special forces to destabilize the state.
Speaking at a press conference in Osogbo on Wednesday, PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi claimed that the security deployment was part of a larger scheme to prevent Saturday’s local government elections.
According to Bisi, the crisis in Osun State was deliberately orchestrated by the All Progressives Congress (APC), which, he alleged, has been planning to eliminate Governor Adeleke since losing power in 2022.
“The whole world must warn and prevail on Mr. Kayode Egbetokun to desist from being an enabler of orchestrated attempts on the life of our Governor. These plans have been on the APC’s agenda since the good people of Osun State voted them out,” Bisi stated.
He further described the police deployment as a “blatant coup,” alleging that Special Forces escorted miscreants into local government councils against the directive of the state government.
“This is a direct attack on democracy. The IGP’s forces flagrantly violated Governor Adeleke’s instruction as the Chief Security Officer of Osun State to restore peace and order. One of the key plots is to assassinate our Governor, and we will not allow it,” he added.
The PDP called on the international community to intervene and ensure that the police force remains neutral in the state’s political affairs. The party vowed to resist any attempts to subvert the will of Osun people and disrupt the democratic process.
