Pogba reacts to reduced doping ban

World-renowned footballer Paul Pogba has broken his silence following the reduction of his four-year doping ban to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Pogba, who was initially banned in September 2023 after testing positive for elevated testosterone levels, posted a quiet yet poignant image of his personalized football boots on social media, signaling his readiness to return to the pitch.

Pogba’s suspension stemmed from a routine test after Juventus’ victory over Udinese in August 2023, which revealed heightened testosterone levels. The French midfielder has consistently maintained his innocence, explaining that the banned substance was unknowingly ingested through a supplement. Despite his efforts to clear his name, Pogba was handed a four-year ban in February 2024, putting his career in jeopardy.
However, in a significant development, CAS reviewed the case and reduced the suspension to 18 months, meaning Pogba will be able to resume training in January 2025 and rejoin competitive play by March.
In his heartfelt statement following the ruling, Pogba expressed relief and gratitude, saying, “Finally, the nightmare is over. I can look forward to the day when I can follow my dreams again.” He reiterated that he never knowingly breached any anti-doping regulations and thanked CAS for listening to his explanation.
“This has been a hugely distressing period in my life because everything I’ve worked so hard for has been put on hold,” Pogba said. “But I’ve never given up, and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch.”
The ruling has ignited a wave of support from fans and fellow athletes, as Pogba’s emotional journey through this ordeal has resonated deeply with the football community. His upcoming return in 2025 marks the beginning of a new chapter, one that both Pogba and his supporters eagerly await.
