Police arrest 6 for armed robbery in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested around six suspects who specialise in armed robbery, vandalism, and terrorising various communities in the Anambra South Senatorial District of the state.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, the spokesman for the state Police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the arrest was made after different joint operations carried out across the three senatorial zones of the state by a security team comprising the police and vigilante operatives.
Ikenga said during the operations, the police operatives recovered assorted quantities of cable wires vandalised by the suspects and other deadly weapons, including a pistol, adding that the vigilance exercise is ongoing in the three senatorial districts of the State.
He said, “The police operatives have recorded breakthroughs in the Anambra South Senatorial district with the arrest of six suspects for armed robbery and vandalism. The police recovered an English pistol and vandalised electric cables from the suspects.
“The joint security team comprising the police and operatives of the Anambra State Vigilante carried out the exercise and will continue with their security dominance operations in the three senatorial districts of the state.
“Following this, the security team has sustained its security offensive in the area, with the aim of maintaining law and order across the state.
“The command has also declared a manhunt for a notorious cultist and gunrunner known as ‘Kiss me’. They have also recovered one English pistol and vandalised electric cables in separate operations in the area.”
Breaking down the exercise, Ikenga said on May 19, in a separate operation by the police operatives, two suspects were arrested at Ifite village, Oko and one English Beretta pistol was recovered.
“In the evening of May 19, 2025, two suspects, namely: Anagor Chinedu ‘M’ aged 25 years and Anagor Rapuluchukwu ‘M’ aged 23 years, were arrested at Ifite village, Oko and one English Beretta pistol was recovered.
“The suspects confessed to being members of beggars’ confraternity and mentioned their Armourer as ‘kiss me’. Meanwhile, the operatives have launched a manhunt operation aimed at dislodging the criminal group,” he added.
He added that in another development, the police operatives responded swiftly to a distress call of some miscreants sighted vandalising electrical wires at the permanent site of the Federal Polytechnic Oko and arrested four suspects: one Chukwuka Usulor, Chukwuemeka Michael, Ikenna Oke and Ebuka Okeke.
“The operatives recovered some assorted quantities of cable wires. The Command remains committed in denying the criminals the space to commit havoc,” he added.
