Police lament rising cases of missing persons

Ogun State Police Command has expressed concern over a disturbing increase in missing persons cases across the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, described the rise as unprecedented, affecting individuals of all age groups. She lamented that only a small percentage of the missing have been located, with many still unaccounted for.
“This trend is alarming, and it underscores the need for everyone to prioritize their safety and maintain a heightened sense of security,” Odutola said.
The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has introduced safety measures to address the rising cases of missing persons.
Parents are advised to discourage children from using commercial transport with strangers, while youths should use mobile devices to share real-time locations or send distress signals in emergencies.
As part of its community-oriented approach, the Command has pledged to increase public awareness and bolster proactive measures to curb the worrying trend.
Odutola urged residents to stay vigilant and security-conscious, emphasizing that the Command is committed to protecting the lives and property of all citizens.
“The safety of every individual remains our top priority, and we will continue to work tirelessly to address this issue,” she concluded.
