Popular Nigerian actor looses mother


Renowned Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has shared the heartbreaking news of his mother’s passing. Omoladun Afolayan, who lived to the age of 81, passed away peacefully.
Kunle took to Instagram on Saturday to honor his mother’s memory, posting photos of cherished moments, including pictures of her surrounded by her grandchildren.
Reflecting on her life, he wrote, “It is hard to accept, but she surely lived a good life. Our mother, Maami Omoladun Ayanladun Afolayan, has gone to rest (1943-2024). She is survived by children and grandchildren. Please keep us in your prayers. Omo re a gbeyin gbogbo wa.”

Kunle’s brother, actor Gabriel Afolayan, also expressed his sorrow, fondly remembering their mother as “big mummy” and his beloved “gist and dance partner.” Sharing his sentiments on social media, Gabriel wrote, “Home is not cool. We lost a very dear one. You’d be greatly missed, big mummy (Iya Oyo). Rest on #maami. Big love to my sibs #kunleafo #aremumimostwantedlikecrudeoil.”
The Afolayan family has asked for prayers as they navigate this difficult time, reflecting on the impact of their mother’s life and love across generations.
