Public funds not for politicians’ personal use, says Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has urged his fellow politicians to utilize their resources to improve the welfare of the people and enhance their quality of life.
Obi addressed an audience at the Grimard School of Nursing and Midwifery in Ayingba, located in the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, on Monday.
“We politicians should realise that the money in our care does not belong to us but to the people and we should spend it to uplift their standard of living.
“The money is not our own, it belongs to the people, we are under obligation to spend it on the people.”
He, therefore, made a donation of N10m to the school and promised to sink a borehole that would serve the school and the host community of Ayingba.
Earlier, the Catholic Bishop of Idah Diocese, Anthony Adaji, praised Peter Obi’s dedication to education, highlighting his impressive achievements in improving the quality of schools during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State.
“His investment in education was legendary and that reflected in the performance of students throughout his tenure as the governor,” Adaji said.
During his tour, Peter Obi also stopped in Ankpa and Olamaboro local government areas, where he officially commissioned two newly drilled boreholes.
