Ramadan: Sultan of Sokoto gives new order

The Sultanate Council in Sokoto has declared that the search for the new moon of Ramadan 1446AH will commence on Friday, February 28, 2025.
In an official announcement, the council urged Muslims across Nigeria to be vigilant and watch for the crescent moon on that day. Individuals who sight the moon are expected to report their observations to the nearest District or Village Head, who will then relay the information to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.
As the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, the Sultan will verify and officially announce the sighting if confirmed.
To ensure a seamless reporting process, the council has also provided dedicated phone lines for direct communication:

08066303077
08035965322

Muslims nationwide are encouraged to participate in this important religious observance, as the confirmation of the new moon marks the official beginning of Ramadan.
