Security aides withdrawn from Lagos assembly speaker

The security detail assigned to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, has been withdrawn, leaving both the Speaker and the Assembly vulnerable, sources confirmed on Thursday.
According to reports, “All police escorts guarding Speaker Mojisola Meranda and those securing the Lagos State House of Assembly have been withdrawn with immediate effect, leaving the House and the Speaker exposed to potential attacks.”
A media aide to the Speaker confirmed the development but did not provide further details on the reason behind the decision.
The Lagos Assembly has been in turmoil since January 13, when former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa was removed from office. His ouster has triggered an ongoing crisis within the legislative body, raising concerns over stability and security at the Assembly complex.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the withdrawal of security personnel.
