Senate confirms Ned Nwoko’s defection

Senate has formally confirmed the defection of Senator Ned Nwoko (representing Delta North) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), following his recent resignation from the opposition party.
Recall that Nwoko highlighted the current state of PDP, internal crises, and instability for his defection to APC.
Reports revealed that the lawmaker left the PDP because Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori and former governor, Ifeanyi Okowa did not give him space to function.
According to Channels TV, thunderous chants erupted as he was escorted to the majority wing of the Upper Chamber.
In addition to his defection, the senator in a correspondence read by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, urged the Senate to establish an ad hoc committee to investigate the ongoing crisis within the PDP.
He emphasised the need for a viable opposition to safeguard Nigeria’s political landscape and ensure a balanced democratic process.
