Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke returned to full training with Sevilla on Thursday after spending about three months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
The 27-year-old was welcomed back by his teammates with a guard of honour in a photo shared by the club on Thursday.
He has been out of action since Sevilla’s 5-1 defeat to Barcelona on October 21, 2024.
Ejuke’s return provides a boost to manager García Pimienta’s squad ahead of their La Liga fixture against Girona on Saturday.
The coach had suggested the player would likely feature by mid-January after he began light training in December 2024.
“Ejuke could be training with us in mid-January and, if all goes well, he will participate in official matches towards the end of January or beginning of February,” the coach said.
The Nigerian joined Sevilla on a three-year deal from CSKA Moscow and became an instant hit in the La Liga.
Before his injury, Ejuke had been one of Sevilla’s standout performers, dazzling with his pace, technique, and ability to create chances on the left flank.
The Super Eagles winger was named Sevilla’s Player of The Month for September and was ranked as Europe’s top dribbler ahead of stars like Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid’s Vinicius, and Kylian Mbappé in October.
Sevilla are currently 14th in the La Liga with 22 points after 18 matches.
