Son emerges top target for Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is stepping up its pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-min Son, with reports from England suggesting that the 32-year-old could consider leaving north London this summer.

Son featured in Spurs’ recent Europa League final victory over Manchester United in Bilbao, coming off the bench in the second half after returning from injury. However, with a long summer ahead, interest in the South Korean star is beginning to mount.

According to The Telegraph, the Saudi Pro League has renewed and intensified its interest in signing him, having already identified him as a priority in recent months. With his contract at Tottenham running until June 2026, the coming months could represent one of the last opportunities for the club to recoup a transfer fee for one of their marquee players.

Losing Son would mark another significant departure for Spurs, who already saw long-time captain Harry Kane leave for Bayern Munich. For the Saudi league, Son represents not only a major on-pitch addition but also a strategic move to expand its commercial reach across Asia.

The 2024/25 season has not been the forward’s most prolific in front of goal. Despite reaching double figures again, he registered 11 goals and 11 assists in 46 appearances — a drop compared to his 17 goals and 10 assists from 36 matches the previous campaign.
