Two suspected child traffickers have been apprehended in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, after allegedly confessing to kidnapping a child for ₦800,000.

The arrest, which has since gone viral on social media, was captured in a video posted by user @PH_Socials on X (formerly Twitter), showing the moment the suspects—two men—were detained and accused of being part of a four-man trafficking syndicate.

According to voices heard in the background of the video, the suspects were caught following a two-day manhunt and investigation by locals who linked them to a series of child abductions in the area.

“These are the people who have been trafficking children in Oyigbo Local Government. We’ve caught them,” a man is heard saying in the video, while showing the suspects seated on the ground. He claimed the group had already received ₦800,000 for the recent kidnapping, though the identity of the victim remains unclear.

Reports suggest the group includes two men and two women, although only the male suspects were captured in the footage.

As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from the Rivers State Police Command regarding the arrest. Many are now calling on authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution of the culprits.
