Tension as over 15,000 applicants jostle for 900 civil service jobs in Oyo

In a highly competitive recruitment exercise, only 900 candidates will be selected from a pool of over 15,000 qualified applicants for the Oyo State civil service.
This was disclosed on Friday in Ibadan by the Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamoru Aderibigbe.
Speaking to journalists, Aderibigbe revealed that the commission initially received 22,235 applications through its job portal. However, only 15,000 candidates met the stipulated requirements for the advertised positions.
The recruitment, which will fill vacancies across more than 60 cadres in ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), involves a computer-based test (CBT) scheduled to run from Monday to Thursday.
Test Schedule and Process
Aderibigbe explained that applicants have been divided into two groups based on their areas of expertise.
Monday and Tuesday: Candidates applying for positions as Education Officers, Environmental Health Personnel, Social Welfare Officers, and Youth Officers will take the test.
Thursday: All other applicants will sit for their respective assessments.
Applicants have been issued invitation letters, and those who are yet to receive theirs are advised to remain patient and continue checking.
Exam Guidelines
The chairman emphasized strict adherence to examination rules, stating that applicants are required to present printed copies of their application forms and invitation slips at the venue. Phones and other electronic devices are prohibited within the examination centers.
“Applicants are strictly to come to the examination centre at the indicated time on their individual invitation slips,” Aderibigbe stated.
The recruitment aims to bolster the Oyo State civil service with qualified individuals capable of filling crucial roles across various sectors.
