At the end of Barcelona Saturday’s match against Real Betis, Raphinha was visibly angry with Gil Manzano. German coach Hansi Flick tried to calm him down, and teammate Ter Stegen did the same as the Brazilian was heading towards the tunnel.

Barcelona could not capitalise on Real Madrid’s defeat to Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu, settling for a 1-1 draw with Real Betis. However, they did add a point to their lead over Los Blancos.

Despite this, Raphinha was particularly upset, partly due to his complaints about the refereeing. When the final whistle blew, the Brazilian was seen approaching Gil Manzano, as captured by Movistar+ cameras.

“You don’t tell me to shut up, you don’t tell me to shut up. You’re rude,” he shouted to one of the assistants after greeting Gil Manzano, following complaints about the added time, especially regarding one of the assistants.

Hansi Flick noticed his frustration and went to mediate, attempting to move the winger away from the area. At another moment, as Raphinha made his way to the tunnel, he was seen gesturing with his arm towards another member of the officiating team.

Ter Stegen appeared at that point, nearby, and tried to calm his teammate, though he received a slight push in return. Initially, one of the videos circulating seemed to suggest a disagreement between the two Barcelona players, but others clearly showed that the Brazilian’s frustration was directed at the assistant.

In the press room, Flick commented on the incident after the match, downplaying it with a joke about the player’s behaviour: “He was angry with me, not the referee. He was shouting at me.”
