Tinubu confers CFR national honour on Bill Gates

President Bola Tinubu has conferred one of Nigeria’s highest national honours, the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on American billionaire and philanthropist, Bill Gates.
The prestigious award was presented during a special ceremony in Abuja, in recognition of Gates’ outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s healthcare, technology, and humanitarian development through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The event, attended by top government officials, diplomats, and dignitaries, celebrated Gates’ long-standing partnership with Nigeria, particularly in the areas of disease eradication, education, and public health interventions.
Gates, who has been instrumental in supporting Nigeria’s fight against polio and strengthening primary healthcare systems, was applauded for his commitment to improving lives across the country.
The CFR honour places Gates among a select group of foreign nationals recognised for their significant impact on Nigeria’s national development.
