Tinubu hints at Wike’s possible defection to APC

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has opened the door for Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the ruling party is ready to receive him whenever he decides to make the move.
Tinubu made the remark on Wednesday while commissioning the Arterial Road N16 Shehu Shagari Way from Ring Road One (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Road), along with other completed road projects in Katampe District of Abuja.
While acknowledging that Wike is not yet a member of the APC, the President praised the minister’s performance and hinted that his presence has already brought vibrancy to the party.
“Even though Wike is not yet officially one of us, with him around, APC remains in a joyous mood, while the opposition continues to feel the heat,” Tinubu stated.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was appointed FCT minister by Tinubu in 2023.
