Transfer: Zubimendi to complete Arsenal move

Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, has again travelled to London, this time to close his move to the Gunners.
Martin Zubimendi’s move to Arsenal is a matter of days away.
The Real Sociedad midfielder is in London to finalise the formalities and wait for the Gunners to make it official, according to ‘Noticias de Gipuzkoa’.
Although Real Madrid have inquired about his situation in recent weeks to make a final attempt, Zubimendi and the team coached by Mikel Arteta have been in talks for several months.
A month ago, the 26-year-old midfielder was already in the English capital to undergo a medical and finalise contract terms.
The 26-year-old Zubimendi was spotted at Loiu Airport in Bilbao on Sunday, catching another plane to London. This time, the intention is to be present when Arsenal officially announce the signing of the Spanish international. The announcement is expected in early July, with the transfer window already open.
Arsenal will pay around 66 million euros to sign Martin Zubimendi. The figure slightly exceeds the player’s release clause, but the Gunners have agreed to pay a little more as a condition of paying Real Sociedad in several instalments.
Real Sociedad’s new director of football Erik Bretos was also recently in London to discuss the departure of the midfielder, who will leave a gap in the midfield that will be difficult to fill, as was the case with Mikel Merino, with whom he will share a team at the Emirates Stadium.
