Troops rescue father, son after invading terrorists’ den


The 6 Brigade/Sector 3 troops of Operation Whirl Stroke on Tuesday, declared that the terrorists’ camp in Taraba State has been cleared and Dr. James Raphael and his son have also been rescued from Gbeji, in the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
The exercise was carried out between April 27 and April 29, 2024, which led to the recovery of a significant amount of arms and ammunition.
In a statement released in Jalingo on Tuesday, by Lt. Oni Olubodunde, the acting Assistant Director, 6 Brigade, Army Public Relations, said, “The troops arrested a suspected kidnapper named Dogo Manu, who was found in possession of two Tecno mobile phones and N40,000. A search of their camp resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle.
“Furthermore, the troops successfully secured the release of kidnapped victims, Dr James Raphael and his son, in Gbeji, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.”
“Troops deployed at Kufai Amadu and Kasuwan Haske, in collaboration with troops from Sub-Sector 1A OPWS, acted on intelligence regarding the hideout of terrorists in Vingir Village of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Benue State and engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, leading to their withdrawal in disarray.” The army spokesman added.
