UCL: Marciniak to officiate semi-final between Inter Milan, Barcelona

Polish referee Szymon Marciniak has been appointed to officiate the Champions League semi-final second leg between Inter Milan and Barcelona. Marciniak has previously officiated this fixture on two occasions, both ending in draws.
Marciniak, 44, has been refereeing Champions League matches for 11 seasons. During this time, he has officiated five Barcelona games, with a record of one win, two draws and two losses.
Of those five matches, two were encounters between Barcelona and Inter Milan. The first took place on 6 November 2018 at San Siro in the group stage, ending in a 1-1 draw, and the second, also in the group stage, was on 12 October 2022 at Camp Nou, which finished 3-3.
Marciniak will be assisted by his fellow Poles Tomasz Listkiewicz and Adam Kupsik.
The fourth official will be another Polish referee, Paweł Raczkowski, with Dutch officials Dennis Higler and Pol van Boekel serving as VAR assistants.
The Polish referee also officiated the memorable Madrid derby between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid earlier this season, which was marred by Julian Alvarez’s involuntary double touch during the penalty shoot-out.
