Van Dijk speaks on Liverpool future

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has admitted he has “no idea” where he will play next season.
The captain dismissed claims that a contract extension is imminent as “lies”.
The Dutch defender’s contract is set to expire in the summer, and while Liverpool have reportedly made an offer for renewal, no agreement has been reached yet.
Asked about his prospects for the 2025/26 season, Van Dijk made it clear that he is focused on the present. “There are 10 games to go and that is my full focus. If there’s news, you will know it. But I don’t even know myself,” he explained. He also dismissed claims suggesting a new deal is imminent, saying: “If anyone says they do know, they are lying to your face.”
Van Dijk remains determined to help Liverpool win trophies in the remaining months of the season, including the Carabao Cup. “We don’t need any added motivation. We have 10 games left, and if you need motivation for a final, you’re in the wrong business.”
The 32-year-old was spotted in conversation with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Luis Campos in the Anfield tunnel shortly after Liverpool’s Champions League exit. This meeting has fueled further speculation about Van Dijk’s future, following months of uncertainty regarding his contract situation.
