WAEC: 574 Nigerian schools bans over exam malpractice

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has withdrawn the accreditation of 574 schools across Nigeria over their involvement in examination malpractice.
This decisive move means the affected schools will no longer be eligible to serve as examination centres for any WAEC-conducted exams, starting with the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), which kicks off on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
Amos Dangut, the Head of WAEC’s National Office, made the announcement, confirming that the Council has already forwarded the list of the delisted schools to the Federal Government for further necessary actions.
According to Dangut, the decision was taken to uphold the integrity of the examination process and ensure that only credible institutions are permitted to host WAEC exams. He stressed that these schools have lost their recognition status and will no longer be used for the administration of any WAEC examination.
