Why I’ll confront Wike next time we meet – Shehu Sani

Former Senator Shehu Sani, who previously represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has promised to confront Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike regarding comments Wike made at a recent public event.
On Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Shehu Sani responded to Nyesom Wike’s challenge, criticizing Wike’s comments about his Senate tenure and accusing Wike of dodging rebuttals at events.
“Wike is my friend, and I would have preferred to respond to him in person rather than on TV. I’ve been at events where he speaks last, closing discussion without allowing responses. But next time, I will engage him directly,” Sani asserted.
He stressed the important role he and others played in ending military dictatorship in Nigeria, suggesting that figures like Wike owe their political careers to the efforts of activists like himself. Sani highlighted his time as a political prisoner, contrasting it with Wike’s activities during that period.
Shehu Sani acknowledged that Nyesom Wike’s comments were directed at the Senate’s collective contributions to democracy, but vowed to defend himself against any similar remarks in the future.
The exchange between Sani and Wike exposes a profound disagreement on political history and personal contributions, reflecting a deeper rift within Nigeria’s political landscape.
