Wizkid breaks silence on grief, shares daily struggles missing mom

Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has once again laid bare the emotional weight he carries following the passing of his beloved mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun.
In a poignant post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, the Grammy award-winning singer wrote, “Miss my Queen every day,” offering fans a rare window into the grief that continues to shadow his life nearly a year after her death.
Wizkid’s mother died on August 18, 2023—a loss the singer and his family have described as earth-shattering. Known for being his biggest cheerleader and emotional anchor, Mrs. Balogun’s passing left a void that the “Morayo” crooner continues to grapple with.
The brief but powerful message resonated deeply with fans, who flooded the comment section with words of comfort and solidarity, many expressing how his vulnerability reminds them of their own personal losses.
Earlier this month, Wizkid cancelled several U.S. stops on his highly anticipated Morayo tour. While the official reason for the cancellations wasn’t disclosed, sources close to the singer hinted that he is still dealing with the emotional aftermath of his mother’s death.
This latest post underline just how deeply the loss continues to affect him, serving as a reminder that even global icons are not immune to the enduring pain of losing a loved one.
