2nd anniversary: Ex-minister greets Tinubu, urges South-east, Nigerians to embrace Renewed Hope Agenda

A former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Chief Henry Ikoh has felicitated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his government clocks two years in office with a call on Nigerians to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration.
Chief Ikoh in a statement he personally signed in Abuja on Wednesday, also called on the people of the South-east region to join hands with President Tinubu in his efforts to transform the region.
In the statement made available to newsmen by his media office, Chief Ikoh while reacting to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s May 29th address to Nigerians on the state of the economy, security, infrastructural development and oil subsidy issues, appraised the President’s courage in admitting the obvious and mapping out cushioning effects as counter measures to challenges facing his administration’s policy.
Ikoh said some of the policies of the government might be negatively impacting on Nigerians for now, they have been designed to reposition the country to the path of growth and development.
“Let me use this auspicious moment to felicitate with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of his second year in office as the fifth democratically elected leader of the country since the commencement of the current Fourth Republic which has spanned 26 unbroken years, the longest in the nation’s history.
“The coming on board of President Tinubu has brought with it so much hope in the sense that many hard policies, which would be needed to reposition the country that past leaders have refused to take are being taken to help rework the country to the path of development and growth.
“Though, I admit that the people are bearing the brunt of some of the moves are being carried out now but I know that they (the policies) would turn out well for us all and going by recent reports coming from relevant institutions, we are beginning to see the fruits of the reforms and I urge Nigerians to be patient,” he said.
The former minister urged the people of the South-east to join the prevailing political mainstream in the country as a means of further benefiting from the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government whom he praised for making concerted efforts to develop the region.
He listed some of the achievements of the current government to include the setting up and proper funding of the South East Development Commission (SEDevCOM), massive infrastructure upgrade as well more appointment of people from the region into key institution of government as some of the gains the region has secured from the current government.
“While felicitating with President Bola Tinubu, I also use this opportunity to call on our people in the South East region not just to join the APC but to also key into the Renewed Hope Agenda. By doing this, our collective interest would be guaranteed,” he said.
