Man jumps into river in Osun


Pandemonium broke out in Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State, as a man leaped into the Osun River after being harassed by a group of thugs.
According to eyewitnesses, Femi Apatanku was brutally beaten by a group of hoodlums over an unspecified issue. Following the assault, Apatanku fled the scene and made his way to the nearby Gbodofon bridge, where he subsequently jumped into the Osun River, which is approximately 200 meters away from the bridge.
An eyewitness Sikiru Yusuf, the incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, sparking chaos and confusion in the surrounding area.
He said: “Femi jumped into the river,he kept saying that a group of gang members had beaten him mercilessly at Finger Licking area adjacent Gbodofon bridge where he jumped inside the river.
“Officers of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) later came to the scene to retrieve the corpse.”
Kehinde Adeleke, Osun Civil Defence Corps spokesperson, confirmed the incident.
He said: “The body of the said man has not been recovered but efforts are ongoing.”
