Gov Kefas worried over rising cases of mental health among youths

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has described as worrisomed the increasing rate of mental health cases among the youth and their well being in the State.
This was contained in a press statement issue and made available to our reporter on Tuesday signed by the Secretary to the Government of the state, Barr. Gebon Kataps .
Kefas stressed that the 10 man Committee set up by the State government will work with relevant law enforcement agencies to restrict the availability of prescription drugs like codeine, Tramadol, pentazocine etc.
The governor explained that the initiative aimed to strengthen and empower mental health unit of the Ministry of health to be to supervise and support state health facilities on mental health issues and proper management refunds .
Kefas added that his administration will establish a drug rehabilitation centre in the State and adequately staff same to take care of youth with substance use disorders of drug addiction and others as well as subsidizing treatment cost for these conditions.
The statement further states that awareness campaigns on the dangers of drug abuse in all youth settings across in schools, Youth clubs and gathering.
