El-Rufai announces political comeback in 2027 after completing studies

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has announced his intention to return to politics in 2027 after completing his ongoing studies.
The ex-governor made this revelation during an interview on the Hausa program on Freedom Radio Kaduna.
El-Rufai, who governed Kaduna from 2015 to 2023, was initially considered for a ministerial position under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. However, due to political maneuvering, he was eventually excluded from the ministerial list, a development that sparked significant controversy.
Despite the setback, El-Rufai remains committed to public service, stating, “I plan to return to politics in 2027 after completing my studies. Politics has no retirement. By the grace of Allah, I will be back to continue serving the people.”
In the interview, the former governor also addressed recent allegations made by the Kaduna State House of Assembly, which accused his administration of mismanaging N423 billion. El-Rufai vehemently denied the accusations, asserting, “I didn’t enter politics to steal or enrich myself. I was already content with what I had before becoming governor.”
El-Rufai’s comments come amidst speculation surrounding his recent meetings with prominent political figures, including former President Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Rabiu Kwankwaso. Although the details of these discussions remain undisclosed, many are closely watching El-Rufai’s next moves on the political scene.
With his sights set on a return in 2027, El-Rufai’s announcement signals his ongoing influence and determination to play a significant role in Nigeria’s political landscape.
