Buni plans special empowerment programme for Women in Yobe

Yobe state Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni has assured special self- reliance economic empowerment programmes to support women in the state.
He stated this Friday in Damaturu when he received APC Women representatives from Potiskum local government area who paid a solidarity visit to the Governor.
The Governor advised women in the state to engage in economic ventures to improve their personal economy.
He pledged that his administration would introduce special packages to women across the state “government would introduce new measures that would support and promote self-reliance, and improve the economy of women.
Governor Buni presented each of the visiting women with a deep freezer, saying “government would extend the gesture to other women groups and individuals across the 17 local government areas”.
“You should please avoid selling out materials given to you to help yourselves and improve your businesses” Buni said.
The Governor expressed regret over the attitude of some beneficiaries of the state agricultural empowerment programme who disposed of agricultural machines given to them by the state government.
“Some have been arrested and retrieved, we will introduce more stringent measures, including guarantors for subsequent beneficiaries of future interventions” he said.
Governor Buni emphasized the supremacy of the party against individuals or groups, “your loyalty should be to the party and not individuals because those individuals are also submissive to the supremacy of the party”.
According to the Governor, the government would continue to engage women groups to adequately address their challenges to have a true sense of belonging.
