Sani presents N790bn 2025 budget

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has presented a budget proposal of ₦790 billion for the 2025 fiscal year to the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

Presenting the 2025 budget proposal at the chambers of the Kaduna State House of Assembly on Monday, Sani stated that the budget prioritises critical sectors such as infrastructure, human capital development, security, and agriculture.

According to the governor, the 2025 budget proposal is designed to drive inclusive development, create jobs, improve infrastructure, and invest in the people of Kaduna State.

“We are determined to build a state that is safe, prosperous, and equitable for all.

“The 2025 budget proposal reflects our commitment to this vision and our determination to make Kaduna State a place where everyone can thrive,” he said.

The budget proposal allocates ₦553 billion for capital expenditure and ₦237 billion for recurrent expenditure.

Education received the largest allocation, with ₦206.6 billion earmarked for the sector, representing 26.14% of the total budget.

This allocation will fund the construction of new schools, the rehabilitation of existing ones, the recruitment and capacity development of teachers, and the provision of learning materials.

“We recognise the importance of education in driving development and transforming our state. That is why we have allocated a significant portion of our budget to this critical sector,” the governor explained.

The health sector was allocated ₦127 billion (16.07%), which will be used to upgrade healthcare facilities, procure medical equipment, and expand mobile healthcare services.

“We are committed to ensuring that our citizens have access to quality healthcare. That is why we have allocated a significant portion of our budget to this critical sector,” Sani stated.

Infrastructure received ₦106 billion (13.14%), which will be used to complete ongoing road construction projects, rural electrification, water supply, and other critical public works across the state.

Agriculture was allocated ₦74 billion (9.36%), which will fund agricultural innovation, provide support for smallholder farmers, promote agro-processing, and expand irrigation projects.

Security and social welfare were allocated ₦11.2 billion and ₦9.8 billion respectively, with the latter representing 1.24% of the total budget.

The governor noted that the budget proposal also highlights the administration’s achievements in 2024, including the recruitment and training of 7,000 personnel of the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS) to enhance security across the state. Additionally, 150 Hilux vehicles and 500 patrol motorcycles were distributed to security operatives.

Sani expressed his appreciation to the Kaduna State House of Assembly for their cooperation and urged them to support the budget proposal.

“I urge you to carefully consider the proposals contained in this budget and to give them the necessary support. Together, we can make Kaduna State a place where everyone can thrive,” he said.
