Ibadan stampede: Ooni ex-wife, Oriyomi Hazmat, principal land in prison

A Chief Magistrate in Ibadan, Olabisi Ogunkanmi, has ordered the remand of Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife; Oriyomi Hamzat, owner of Agidigbo FM; and Fasasi Abdulahi, Principal of Bashorun Islamic High School.
The trio will remain at the Agodi Correctional Facility pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of the Oyo State Ministry of Justice.
The suspects were arraigned on Tuesday before the Chief Magistrate Court 1, Iyaganku, Ibadan, on a four-count charge, including conspiracy, acceleration of death, negligent acts causing harm, and failure to provide adequate security and medical facilities.
The court premises were filled with tension as a crowd of supporters gathered to show solidarity with Oriyomi Hamzat. However, the heavy presence of security operatives ensured calm throughout the proceedings.
Tensions heightened as police vehicles carrying the suspects began to leave the premises, with brief commotion among supporters before order was restored.
