Kemi Adeosun reflects on infrastructure progress, teases 2025 ambitions

Former Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, has stirred reactions online with a reflective yet forward-looking post about her recent trip to the Southeast, where she attended a traditional marriage in Umuahia, Abia State.
Sharing her thoughts on Facebook, Adeosun highlighted her pride in the transformational impact of infrastructure projects initiated during her tenure while hinting at her political aspirations for 2025.
In her post, the economist recalled traveling on the Apapa-Oworonshoki road, a project financed under the Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme — an initiative she helped pioneer.
She expressed delight at witnessing firsthand the progress on roads in the East, noting the cleaner and more developed environment.
At the Sam Mbakwe International Airport in Owerri, she captured a photo of a tax message display, remarking that although it was outdated, its core message remained relevant.
“We must think differently to get different outcomes,” Adeosun wrote, adding, “I’m stepping out in 2025! We have nothing to lose, and don’t listen to those who say nothing can change. What would you do if we knew we could not fail?”

Admirers described her as the best Finance Minister Nigeria has ever had, citing her innovative approaches to tax reform and her integrity-driven leadership.
Kemi Adeosun’s post, with its mix of nostalgia, pride, and a vision for future possibilities, has sent the social media on frenzy about her potential return to public service and the difference her leadership could make in shaping Nigeria’s future.
Read some netizens’ reactions to Adeosun viral social media post;
@Sunday Olaiya: Best finance minister of our time. Your well thought out reforms really saved Nigeria from economic disaster and doom; but the hawks and sharks in government found you too uncompromising as you were removing feeding bottles from their mouths. They plotted your exit and our dumb president who could not read in between the lines approved your disengagement. Well, I’m happy you moved on, and here you are now; happy and cheerful. May God continue to be with you.
@Lawal Abdullahi: Letting you go was the biggest mistake of Buhari government
Buhari regime never recovered from that blunder.
@Oluwatoyin Benson: I can’t think of a better finance minister. It is so unfortunate Nigeria happens to you at a time the nation needs your wealth of experience and expertise. I would love to see you manage a portfolio at some point in government
@ Ben Polycarp: It was very unfortunate that Nigeria happened to you.Your worth of technical expertise was not utilise because of political permutations
@Joseph: I love your sense of optimism, passion for development and good governance. You are indeed star. Ease step out and we follow!
@Honourable Dairo: You actually did more for us than most of the previous finance ministers in the history of Nigeria, a lot of us are proud of you
