Lagos street sweeper calls out superiors over alleged salary fraud

A Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) worker has publicly called out her superiors for allegedly shortchanging them, despite widespread rumors of an approved salary increase.
In a viral video, the female worker, dressed in a LAWMA uniform, lamented that they were meant to receive ₦85,000 as salary but have consistently been paid only ₦30,000.
Expressing her frustration, she accused their bosses of “wickedness,” alleging that even though Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved an ₦85,000 minimum wage for them in August 2024, the increment has not been implemented LAWMA bosses as they’ve been receiving same amount of 30,000 since August last year and 40,000 naira for the month of February 2025. With boldness, she urged Nigerians to amplify their voices by tagging relevant authorities to ensure justice is served.
As of the time of filing this report, neither LAWMA nor any government official has issued an official statement regarding the viral claims.
