Reaction trails corps member threats from NYSC after calling out Tinubu

A Nigerian youth corper and content creator, identified as Raye, has alleged that she is facing threats from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) after speaking out about the economic struggles under President Tinubu faced by corps members.
In a now-viral video, Raye detailed her challenges after moving out of her parents’ home, emphasizing how the NYSC allowance is insufficient to sustain her amid rising living costs.
Shortly after the video gained attention, an NYSC official reportedly contacted her, demanding that she take it down. In response, Raye played an audio recording of the alleged official issuing threats, warning that if anything happened to her, NYSC Lagos should be held responsible.

Her revelation comes amid growing frustration over the federal government’s failure to implement the promised ₦77,000 allowance for corps members. Despite an approved increase in the national minimum wage, NYSC has continued to pay corps members ₦33,000, leaving many struggling to cope with economic hardship.
Netizens have since rallied behind Raye, condemning the threats against her and urging authorities to ensure her safety. Many have also renewed calls for the government to fulfill its promise of increased allowances to ease the financial burden on corps members.
