Samsung electronics co-CEO, Han Jong-Hee dies at 63

Samsung Electronics has announced the passing of its co-CEO, Han Jong-Hee, who died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday at the age of 63.
Han, who was born in 1962, played a pivotal role in shaping Samsung’s global dominance in consumer electronics and mobile devices. He was appointed vice chairman and co-CEO of the South Korean tech giant in 2022 and had been instrumental in overseeing the company’s electronics and appliances divisions. His co-CEO, Jun Young-Hyun, currently leads Samsung’s semiconductor business.
In an internal statement, Samsung paid tribute to Han’s contributions, highlighting his 37-year tenure at the company. The statement credited him with leading Samsung’s TV business to global prominence and navigating the company through a challenging economic landscape.
“We deeply mourn his passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the company stated.
As of now, Samsung has not announced a successor for Han’s role.
