Breaking: INEC rejects petition to recall Natasha, gives reason

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that the petition seeking the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has failed to meet constitutional requirements.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, INEC stated:
“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”
The electoral body promised to release a more detailed statement on the matter soon.
Discovererngr.com reports that this development comes amid ongoing political tensions in Kogi Central, where calls for Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recall had gained traction among certain groups. However, with INEC’s latest stance, the process appears to have hit a major setback.
