FUOYE Governing Council appoints acting VC

The Governing Council of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has appointed acting Vice Chancellor as its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, commenced a six-month leave.
The decision was made after the Governing Council approved his request to utilize part of his accumulated annual and research leave.
According to the university, Prof. Fasina will be on leave for 126 working days out of his total entitlement of 228 days. The leave takes effect from April 14, 2025.
In a related development, the Governing Council has appointed Prof. Olubunmi S. Shittu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university for the same duration. Prof. Shittu, being the most senior of the three Deputy Vice-Chancellors, will oversee the university’s activities during Prof. Fasina’s absence.
The university’s management has clarified that Prof. Fasina’s decision to proceed on leave is voluntary and not a result of any suspension or controversy, as had been speculated in some quarters.
The appointment of Prof. Shittu as Acting Vice-Chancellor is expected to ensure continuity and stability in the university’s operations during the period.
