El-Rufai’s claims and Tinubu’s presidency, by Reno Omokri

Nasir el-Rufai’s claim that ‘we’ gave power to the South is a very false claim. Nigerians gave power to President Bola Tinubu, not Nasir el-Rufai.

Nasir el-Rufai is reminded that candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu lost the Presidential election in Kaduna State. He polled 29.36% of the votes, equal to 399,293.

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate convincingly won the Presidential election in Kaduna with 40.76% of the votes totalling 554,360.

So, who is the “we” that Nasir el-Rufai refers to?

If then Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar had said such a thing, it could make sense, having delivered 45.78% of the votes of his state, totalling 421,390 to Asiwaju Tinubu, making him the winner of the Presidential election in Jigawa.

Ditto for then Governor Bello Matawalle, who secured 59.33% of the votes in his state for candidate Tinubu to win the election in Zamfara with almost 300,000 votes.

If Malam Nasir el-Rufai could not deliver a victory in his state to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023, then the only thing he can take back in 2027, God sparing all our lives, is his failure.

Even his son, Bello el-Rufai, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, knows that, which is why he has refused to leave the All Progressives Congress to join his party in the dead-horse zone of the Social Democratic Party.

What Arewa should ask el-Rufai is this: If your biological son is not confident enough to join you, why should the rest of Arewa join you?

Nasir el-Rufai, a man so unpopular in his own state that the Kaduna State House of Assembly indicted him for corruption and fraud to the tune of ₦432 billion, is now bold enough to speak for Arewa?

Has Arewa forgotten that this is the same el-Rufai who, on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, called Northerners “lazy” people who rely on low JAMB scores before they can be admitted to universities?

The man who called you and your children lazy is now asking you to remove President Tinubu, who has given Arewa more University Student Loans than he has given the South?

President Tinubu is now building the Sokoto-Badagry Expressway and has just approved ₦777 billion to complete the 700-kilometre Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, in addition to tripling the Federal allocation to Northern states.

This is the same man Nasir el-Rufai wants you to believe is not doing well?

The truth is that Arewa can do better than following Nasir el-Rufai, who is bitter that he did not become a minister.

Haba, Arewa! Do not let this short man shortchange you!
