As political alignments begin to shift ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, Mercy Ayodele, a board member of the Obokun Local Government Education Authority, has tendered her resignation from the Adeleke-led administration.

In a letter addressed to the Chairperson of the Education Authority in Ibokun, Ayodele cited personal reasons for stepping down, noting that it was time for her to “step aside” after her period of service. She expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve under the current state government and thanked the board for the experience gained.

“I appreciate the opportunity to have served, and I am grateful for the experience gained,” she wrote in the resignation letter seen by discovererngr.com on Wednesday.

Although Ayodele did not disclose the specific reasons for her resignation.

Reacting via Facebook, the member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Oluwole Oke, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), described Ayodele’s resignation as a sign of growing discontent within the ruling party.

“More Osun PDP government appointees will resign. We’re raising fresh leaders. Obokun-Oriade is for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Obokun-Oriade is for APC, Obokun-Oriade is for us. The Ife-Ijesa zone is undergoing transformation—it’s turning to gold,” Oke posted.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has not yet issued a statement regarding the development.
