Fulani herdsman joins online campaign demanding release of VeryDarkMan

A Fulani herdsman has joined the growing chorus of Nigerians calling for the release of controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan, who was recently arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter), the herdsman is seen standing calmly in front of his cattle, passionately appealing to the authorities to free the online personality. Speaking in Hausa, he expressed solidarity with VeryDarkMan, saying his arrest was unjust and urging his immediate release.
The video comes amid widespread online agitation following the EFCC’s arrest of VeryDarkMan shortly after he visited a GTBank branch. While his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, claims that no formal reason has been provided for his detention, the EFCC insists the arrest was a result of his repeated refusal to honor several invitations over petitions filed against him.
The clip of the herdsman has since gained traction online, with thousands of social media users reacting in support. Many praised the simplicity and sincerity of the message, highlighting how VeryDarkMan’s influence cuts across social, ethnic, and professional lines.
As public pressure continues to mount, the EFCC has yet to disclose further details about the petitions or the exact charges being considered against the outspoken internet figure.
