“I didn’t tell my children”—79-year-old Nigerian breaks silence after U.S. exploitation

The viral story of a 79-year-old Nigerian woman allegedly being exploited as an unpaid nanny in the United States has taken a new turn, following the emergence of another video offering more insight into her ordeal.
In this new clip, the elderly woman seen once again with her luggage and visibly distressed—is questioned about whether her children were aware of the conditions she faced while staying with her hosts in the U.S.
Responding in Yoruba, the woman calmly stated that she did not inform her children about the mistreatment. “No, I didn’t tell them,” she said, countering the wave of criticism aimed at her children by social media users who had assumed they were negligent of her welfare.
This revelation comes after the first video, where she emotionally recounted how she was promised a better life in the U.S. but was instead turned into a full-time nanny without pay. According to her earlier claims, she cared for three young children from as early as 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., all without compensation or proper support. She also mentioned a broken promise of $1,100 payment if she “performed well,” which she never received.
The latest video has further stirred public sentiment. While some netizens continue to demand accountability from the host family, others have now shifted their focus to the woman’s silence, questioning why she didn’t alert her own children about the alleged abuse.
Still, many are calling for immediate intervention from Nigerian and U.S. authorities to ensure her safety and bring those responsible to justice. The woman’s current situation remains unclear, and there are growing calls for anyone with credible information to help locate her and offer assistance.
