Breaking: Road blocked, commuters stranded as flood shuts Makurdi–Abuja road ahead of Tinubu’s visit to Benue

Just hours before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Benue State, heavy flooding has rendered the Makurdi–Lafia–Abuja highway impassable, sparking chaos for commuters and raising security concerns.
According to a DAILY POST, torrential floodwaters submerged the key route, leaving scores of motorists and passengers stranded with no clear alternative. The road, which serves as a major artery into Makurdi, has effectively been cut off, forcing travelers to either delay their trips or seek refuge in safer areas nearby.
The timing of the flooding is particularly worrisome as it comes amid heightened preparations for President Tinubu’s one-day visit to Benue. The president is expected in Makurdi to commiserate with residents over the recent deadly attack in Yelewata, which left several people dead and displaced many.
